The week of June 29 - July 5 in Review

This blog will be mostly pictures of the events of the past week.  Be sure to scroll all the way to the end to see all the pictures.  We did have a short meeting Tuesday after cleaning the park to announce a few things.

In the coming weeks, we ask members to bring non-perishable food, toiletries, personal items, etc. that we will be donating to "Little Essentials Pantry".  This place disburses goodies to different needy people and facilities in the area.

Two of our Challenge Scholars and their families will be the program the next two weeks.  These two have been selected to receive the $10,000 scholarships out of this year's group that we have mentored.  Come meet these remarkable students and hear the stories that led to their successful journey to graduation.

July 16 will be the next Pybus takeover (7:30-1:00).  We will also be helping with the kids crafts there from 9:00-11:00.

July 23 will be a Goathead Warrior project to collect this nuisance weed in an area of Wenatchee or East Wenatchee.  We'll be getting sign-ups at our next two Tuesday meetings.  This will be a fun and beneficial project that we can bring friends and families to.

The pictures below represent some of the action at the District Governor changeover dinner in Leavenworth, where we celebrated Richard and Robin DeRock for their two years of service, and welcomed DG Karl Reuther and wife Denise (Leavenworth Rotary Club) as the new District Governor.  Kathleen, and Jim & Carol attended from our club (and of course, Robin).

On July 4, several members collected money from people parking at the Town Toyota Center.  Thanks to Kathleen, Earl, Katie, Chris, Robin, Alan, Milt, Wayne M, Glenn, Rebecca, and Jim & Carol.

Also, that afternoon, our club sponsored the Pie Eating Contest at the park.  Robin got the pies and prizes, & awarded $25 gift certificates to the winning adult and kid.  Stacy was there to help out, and we even had a couple of our "Friends of Rotary" volunteer to help.  Cheers to Mustafa, Diana, and Gabby.

On Tuesday, July 5, we met at Walla Walla Point Park to clean up the trash, and have a short meeting, President Robin's first of her term.  Thanks to Shari for getting food and beverages there.  Cleanup went fast with so many helping hands.  Thanks to Stacy & friend Alan B, Alan W, Kathleen & Steve, Glenn, Joel, Wayne M, Wayne S, Robin, Mark, Bill, Milt, Chris, and Jim & Carol for rounding up all the trash.  Sorry if I missed anyone.
