 The meeting was called to order at 7 am by President Robin DeRock.

• Ruth participated in a fundraiser for the Ukraine refugees
• She sang at the event and those in attendance were very excited about her performance
• The event raised $14,000

• C+O Nursery Building project will be starting in June. It is expected to finish by the end of the year.

• There was a 2 day conference event looking for a good local project
• It was recommended to develop a community compost project

• Robin won the Magellan Award for taking the longest time to solve the puzzle in one of the events

Program - Travis Hornby - Pybus Market

Travis is a community focused hands-on leader with a proven track record of success working with board driven organizations to achieve financial growth and stability. He has 15 years of customer service focused experience and a passion for small businesses. Most recently he was the President of the Evergreen Mountain Bike Alliance, a non-profit dedicated to the vision of building and sustaining trail systems throughout the Northwest.

Travis is the General Manager of Pybus Market and also the Pybus Market Foundation Director.

Pybus Market has been in business since 2013. This year is the 10 year anniversary.

There are 2 organizations involved in Pybus Market:

• Pybus Public Market
• Pybus Charitable 

No franchises are allowed in the market. Only locally owned businesses are accepted.

Pybus offers discounts for non-profit organizations to use their meeting facilities.

Once the video comes up, click the play button. 

A $1.4 million dollar renovation and improvement will begin Tuesday May 30th. (The funding is about $200,000 short but funds are being sourced to make up the shortfall.) The project completion date is set for 

The renovation includes:

• A replacement of the parking lot will result in pavers that will prevent oil from asphalt parking. A drain will send runoff through the pavers into a $40,000 filter that will capture contaminants and output water at nearly drinking level quality.
• Outdoor coverings the full length of the building. 
• The south gravel and dirt parking lot (which is owned by the city) will have 2 electric charging stations added at a cost of $8,000 to get the power to the location.

A couple of positive results from the renovation include:

• Pybus signed a 10-year contract with the Farmer's Market Association.
• A traveling Art Show will be coming to the market after the remodel.
• There will be "night markets" after the area is renovated with new coverings and lighting.

Travis contributes to the community at Pybus and as a member of the Chamber of Commerce. He is an asset to the community and deserves our support. He supports us by providing us with a great meeting space to honor the contributions that Rotary makes to the community.

• Bill Ostheimer (Wayne Massing talked him into joining Rotary.)
• Bill was born in Lafayette, Indiana February 19, 1944. He graduated High School in 1962 and attended Purdue University, graduated January 1967.
• While in college, he enlisted in the Navy Reserve and got accepted to Navy Flight School. He attended Navy Preflight training during two summers prior to graduation.
• Bill Spent 22 years in the Navy flying the A-7 Corsair II. He married Sharon Rogers in 1971. They have two children and 7 grandchildren. While in the Navy, he acquired a Master's Degree in Business Organizational Management. He retired as a Commander in 1988 and went to work for Boeing Maintenance Training. He spent 22 years at Boeing, all in Maintenance Training and retired in 2010.
• Bill and Sharon moved to East Wenatchee in July 2021. They live with their daughter, son-in-law and four grandchildren.

• Jennifer Moraski 
• Jennifer grew up in Bellevue with her parents and 5 siblings. She attended the University of Oregon and majored in Computer Science. After graduation, she returned to the Seattle area and worked in a variety of roles in Tech, finally landing at a startup called Starwave, working on ABCNEWS.com for about 6 months after it launched.
• Starwave was acquired by Disney, where she continued in a variety of roles supporting the Disney websites in the early days of the web. She then moved to Nordstroms where she supported backend systems and Nordstrom.com. Her last role was at Tableau, a data analytics company that was acquired by Salesforce. She retired from Salesforce in December 2020.
• Jennifer has two children. Stuart, who recently graduated from WSU with a Computer Science degree and is working at Diamond Foundry in Wenatchee as a software engineer. Sylvia is a sophomore at the University of Portland, majoring in Mechanical Engineering. 
• Jennifer is engaged to Jon Clark, who works remotely as a consultant for an Airplane parts manufacturer. Jon has 3 adult daughters who live in the Seattle area. They are planning a wedding in July in Cashmere.
• After purchasing a cabin in Leavenworth in 2017 that is used as a vacation home as well as a short-term rental. The cabin brought Jennifer to the Wenatchee Valley more often. After falling in love with the area they decided to move here. They purchased a 1935 Craftsman home (it's the "sunflower" house on the corner of Western & Springwater) in Wenatchee in 2021 that needed extensive remodeling. They've since fully renovated the home and yard. 
• Jennifer enjoys travelling, gardening, baseball games and backpacking. Last year she travelled through Western Europe with her daughter after she studied abroad in Austria. This year she's taken trips to Florida, Hawaii, Phoenix, and Eugene.
• Jennifer has been in Toastmasters clubs since 2014 and recently joined the Cascade Speakeasy Club here in Wenatchee. Jennifer is looking forward to getting to know her fellow Rotarians and serving in her new community!

• Emma Crowe
• Emma Crowe is 21 years old and has been a resident of the Wenatchee Valley for the past 10 years. She is a proud 2019 graduate of West Side High School a year early. She graduated from Central Washington University with her B.A. in Professional and Creative Writing in March 2023 with Honors.
• Emma is the Donor Development Coordinator for Sister Connection, and she is very passionate about nonprofit work.
• Emma loves to travel the world, spend time with her family (especially her 2 sisters), and write short stories and poetry. She loves languages and is bi-literate in German, speaks some Greek, and is currently working on learning Kirundi (the language of Barundi).

• Julie Banken
• Julie grew up on an orchard in the Entiat Valley but attended school in Wenatchee and graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1986. Julie and her husband, Joel, met in college and spent two years as Peace Corps Volunteers in Ecuador.
• Julie has Masaer's Degrees in both Entomology and Education. She homeschooled their two boys and also taught outdoor education, science, and social studies for the Wenatchee School District. She worked at Valley Academy for ten years.
• Currently, she is a Master Gardener in training and writes the newsletter for a local electirc vehicle advocacy group called Plug-In North Central Washington.
• Julie Banken has been helping with Rotary Youth Exchange from Behind the scenes since 2017, when her family first hosted a student from France. Julie is joining the Sunrise Club so she can officially participate as District 5060's Outbound Educator for Rotary Youth Exchange. She is looking forward to getting to work with all students that the district sends out as well as the Rotarians who make the Youth Exchange Program possible. 

Program: Road Apple Roulette Results

The Road Apple Roulette Event was a rousing success!

The committee included:

4157 tickets were sold (out of 5000 available). 

Wayne Massing handled all of the tracking of the tickets for the Gambling Commission.

Over 400 tickets were sold the day of the parade to the onlookers along the route.

The following seven volunteers selling the tickets that morning were:

Ticket sales, plus the sponsors, minus the expenses resulted in a profit of $13,732.

TREAD - It is a volunteer-based organization with 3 consistent roles filled part time to conduct the business of the 503c nonprofit organization.

Ryan works half time right now. The needs are likely to justify a full-time position in the near future.

TREAD's Mission

We are leading 50+ partners in Chelan and Douglas Counties to enhance and protect our regional outdoor recreation for all who live, work, and play in our communities. TREAD works in collaboration with our partner organizations and agencies to find creative solutions in Chelan and Douglas Counties for sustainable trails, diverse partnerships, community leadership, and economic development. Our focus is improving regional outdoor recreation for sustainability and accessibility for current and future users. Through our relationships, we are able to identify the intersections and needs of our partners. We accomplish our goals through grants, project management, and collective impact work. We identify needs and leverage our relationships to efficiently fund, plan, and execute projects for the next 5, 10, and 20 years.

TREAD holds quarterly meetings with the outdoor groups and agencies.

They work with trail schools, and trail college groups as well. Ryan would like to facilitate getting a trail school for the Wenatchee area.

TREAD has a Facebook group. If you search for tread, their non-profit shows up at the top of the page.

Stemilt provided the original funding. The group will be looking for more organizations to help keep the momentum going forward.

TREAD is the glue that brings all other stakeholder organizations together.

• They participate or lead studies such as:
• Environmental impact of trails
• Multi-use trails (Walking, biking, horseback riding, and motor vehicles.)

New Trails in the Wenatchee Area

• The extension of the Loop Trail to Rock Island is underway

TREAD is doing an inventory of all of the official (and unofficial) trails in the area.

• They are looking at making the trails wheelchair accessible where possible.

There is an app underway. It is called TREAD Map.

• The goal is to make an app that provides more detail about our local area than other apps like AllTrails.
• Mapping ethics is an issue. TREAD wants to make sure that trails that cross private or restricted areas are not publicized on their app. 
• Other apps in use today are sending people into areas that should not be publicized.
