The winning team of Battle of the Books at Wenatchee High School joined us to explain the contest and its value. English teacher, Molly Butler, launched the initiative this year as a way to increase reading literacy, a strong indicator of academic success.
BOB teams have four to six participants who read 12 books over two months and competed with other teams to answer questions about what they read. The competition culminated in an elimination round where each classes' finalist team competed for the grand prize. There were four students in the winning team: Estella Navara, Jordan Bucherite, Stephanie Herrera and Rebecca Devereaux. The grand prize was a Kindle Fire for each team member. Sunrise Rotary donated the Kindles.
