Announcements
Club President Taro Masuda was in Southern California so President-Elect Earl Crowe filled in.
Rebecca Lyons spoke about the club Holiday Party on Wednesday, Dec. 18th, 6 pm at Ridgeline Graphics. Bring a gift (value <$20) for the optional White Elephant gift exchange. BYOB; club will provide water. We need more desserts for the Dessert Dash. Contact Rebecca Lyons (509-230-9378). If you are going, make sure you have your name on the list that has been circulated at the last meetings. If you missed that and still want to attend, contact Rebecca no later than this Saturday, Dec. 14th so we can get the attendee numbers to the caterer.
PARTY LATE ENTRY: The caterer is Ring-A-Bell Catering. The tentative menu is Roast Pork Loin with cherry-apple chutney OR orange balsamic-rosemary-glazed chicken. Side dishes are Garlic Mashed Potatoes, festive greens salad, and focaccia bread. No pre-selection of entrees is needed. Please bring a canned food donation to the Chelan-Douglas Community Action Council for local food bank distribution.
Carol Adamson reminded the club that they can still buy gifts for Adele, our Swiss Youth Exchange Student. You can give them to her to put under the host family's Christmas tree. Bring them to the party.
Wayne Massing reminded club members about the Life Flight Network applications. We need at least 10 club members to sign up for the yearly rate to be $59. The application forms were circulated again and we are only a couple applications short of having our required 10 members. If you'd like to sign up for this air ambulance service for $59/yr per household, contact Wayne Massing (206-290-7143 cell). Applications are currently being collected. Once we reach 10 or more applications, Wayne will ask for the first year's payment to be sent to Life Flight.
"Jackie" from the Nairobi, Kenya Rotary Club presented President-Elect Earl Crowe with her club's banner, and Earl gave her one of our club's banners.
Mike Smith and Jeremy Reagan, from the Regional Justice Center, spoke briefly about their need for mail scanners, body scanners, and K-9 dog to prevent the flow of drugs into the jail. Donations are being accepted in the near future when the donation acceptance process is finalized.
Craig Reese informed the club about the board's goal of increasing the Salisbury Fund from the current $250k to $300k. We can then fully fund the Challenge Scholarship program from the interest earned on that Fund. Please plan to contribute in some way.
